Material and Logistic Manager
For our client, in shipping, we are searching for an italian speaking Material and Logistic Manager. She/he will support Site Manager in ensuring project completion, with reference to vessel schedule, by ensuring production materials availability and handling. The site is the commercial construction area of cruise ships in Søviknes, approximately 50km from Ålesund, Norway.

Since 2016 Marine Interiors has entered public areas outfitting business by taking over Fincantieri in house public areas outfitting team and then setting the Company as a worldwide leading player in cruise vessels interiors outfitting.
Since 2018 Marine Interiors has entered the catering areas outfitting business by acquiring another company already operating in this sector (Seanergy S.r.l.).
Since 2016 Marine Interiors is active in Norway and Romania, operating as partner of Fincantieri subsidiary company VARD.
In this partnership MI is managing the complete hotel accommodation outfitting of luxury expedition vessels. VARD Tulcea, Søviknes and Langsten are VARD shipyards involved in vessels newbuilding.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Organize and manage storage areas allocated to MI inside the Yard.
- Manage Marine Interiors and Yard resources assigned to storage areas to organize preparation of materials for storage and embarkation.
- Organize materials transports to and from Yard storage areas. Manage Yard provided transportation means.
- Supervise the organization of all the documentation relevant to material transports, material receipt, non-compliant materials to be returned.
- Regular feedback to the Yard management regarding progress in terms of material arrival and embarkation, and problems affecting the specific work.
- Monitoring production schedules of all subjects part of Marine Interiors scope of work (public areas, catering, glazing, levelling compounds, resin flooring) to ensure a correct correlation with the material arrival and handling.
- Issue cabins material orders toward Marine Interiors main warehouse in accordance with the applicable production schedules received from the main office in Italy( GEA software).
- Issue material orders toward Yard and Ship Owner in accordance with Yard production schedules. A dedicated set of spreadsheets is to be set up and constantly updated to keep track of the material handling ( e.g. issued requests, fulfilled requests, materials embarkation, materials distribution on board)
- Coordinate with deck supervisors the management of “non-compliances” database, which includes not initially foreseen, required materials quantities and explanatory notes.
- Set up a dedicated spreadsheet to monitor toilet units orders toward main warehouse in Italy in accordance with construction/delivery schedule and “non-compliances” requirements.
- Establish a collaborative and loyal relation with Shipyard and Ship Owner representatives to manage, as MI site team representative, Yard or Owner supplied materials withdrawal and substitution.
- Take care of HSE requirements application.
Duration of the assignment: 1-year contract (extension might be possible).
Working days: Monday – Friday, must be flexible working during weekends If needed.
Working hours: Full time
REQUIREMENTS
We are looking for a candidate with previous experience in industrial production fields, preferably related to ship building industry, in the fields of accommodation and cabin areas.

- Capacity of identifying the most appropriate technical solutions, in terms of feasibility and costs, to solve the possible issues raised during the execution of the activities

- English professional knowledge
IT competences
- Working knowledge of most common software actually in use (e.g. Microsoft Office). Specific training will be provided to gain proficiency in the material handling software (GEA)
