Project Department Description
Software Innovation Bergen (SIB) is a department in Equinor that focuses on developing software supporting various business units, such as Research & Technology, Drilling & Wells, New Energy Solutions. We believe that Software Development is a craft that requires time and care. We embrace agile methodologies and lean principles. Many of our solutions are open source and we aim to increase that number.
Heap Purple is a team in SIB consisting of 7 people focused on UX and front-end development. The team is currently involved in mainly three projects: a visualization solution for subsurface data (Typescript, web components, D3/WebGL), a design system for web applications (Figma, React) and a website management tool (headless CMS, Next.js, Azure). The candidate will be working on the subsurface visualization project. This is a framework-agnostic JavaScript component library with subsurface well visualizations such as log curves, well fences and maps.
Tasks:
The candidate is expected to participate in the team activities, which include:
- Developing high quality software component in accordance with Software Craftsmanship best practices
- Making sure that the code being produced is properly tested
- Participate in code reviews and pair programming
- Maintaining a robust and reliable CI/CD pipeline
- Contribute to technical discussion and knowledge sharing with fellow team members
Competence Requirements
- Knowledge of at least one of: JavaScript, TypeScript
- HTML/CSS experience
- Experience working with agile methodologies
- Knowledge of functional programming principles
- Git (or extensive experience with other version control systems)
- CI/CD
- Test Driven Development
- Experience with Canvas, D3 or WebGL is considered an advantage
- Previous experience from the energy sector is a plus.
